 I couldn’t find anything sublime last week for FTSTTR’s  28th edition, but this week I found something hopeful when its seems “the new guy” (thanks Whoopie) is doing everything possible to tear this country apart pitting Americans against Americans being the “Divider in Chief” instead of the “Uniter in Chief” he should be. At the very least “the new guy” is leading a cultural civil war and the country may not be able to survive intact. “A house divided against itself cannot stand” were good words from a true “Uniter in Chief”.

A former Green Beret has stepped up to take the mantel of “National Uniter” since “the new guy” won’t. It all started a year ago with Colin Kaepernick, not one of my favorite people for many reasons, and a protest movement about the police killing black men. Now “the new guy” says without reservation its about disrespect for the military, flag and country and, of course, he always tells the truth, so why listen to the guy who actually did the deed. Remember it was about the police and black men dying. But it has become about symbols instead of substance. BAD as “the new guy” likes to tweet.

There has been nothing sublime the past couple weeks with President Trump and the right wing talk radio nattering nabobs of culture attacking the NFL and its players over the National Anthem protests.

How It All Began

 The Republicans and the right wingers own the high ground on social issues with the majority of Americans in the Heartland thinking symbols mean more than substance.

SUBLIME OR RIDICULOUS, I DON’T KNOW

Aaron Rodgers gave a very well received interview to Mina Kimes of ESPN entitled “The Search For Aaron Rodgers”.

Well, I would say from July to February he can be found in Green Bay, Wisconsin except for the bye week. I can also say where he won’t be found until he retires or is pushed out of town by Ted Thompson wherever the Super Bowl is being held. But I guess that’s not what Mrs. Kimes meant by that headline.

Gridiron DONALD TRUMP Out For The Season

Last year Jordy Nelson went down in the second preseason game and almost immediately Aaron Rodgers among others began a campaign trying to get the preseason cancelled because Nelson was lost for the season in a game that didn't mean anything.

 

What they didn't take into account was Jordy didn't get hurt by being hit during the game, but just by landing on his leg funny. That injury could have happened at training camp or getting out of bed or just running during a normal day's activities. However, that didn't stop those who have an agenda spouting off about topics while using false facts (sound familiar Trump supporters?) to back it up.

Today marks a milestone post 100. This blog began on January 11 of this year, so it took 10 months to the day to share 100 of my thoughts. I hope they were all worth reading.

Mission Accomplished

Dunt, Dunt, Dunt, another one bites the dust

The Packer offense had more trouble than anyone figured, but the Packer defense had a better day, but I think it had more to do with how bad Colin Kaepernick played or was allowed to play. But in the end the Packers exorcised their last demon with the defeat of Kaepernick and are now 4-0 with a two-game lead over the Vikings and three games over the Bears.

 

Offensively, Don Barclay had a bad game at right tackle giving up two sacks and the normally solid middle of the line had trouble with holding. Josh Sitton was caught twice and T. J. Lang once.

 

I Finally Figured It Out

I Pity The Fools

The TIT (Trust in Ted) crowd gripes my butt in their criticism of anybody who dares to say anything negative about General Manager Ted Thompson and lately with RC dorkus of any criticism of the Packers in general. But sitting here after I saw my grand nephew play soccer it suddenly came to me why they are the way they are.

 

Now before I give you my revelation about the TIT and rosy glasses crowds I am one of them (or at least some of them) in that I have been to Mount Everest (Lombardi, Holmgren and McCarthy) and in the Mariana Trench (Bengston, Gregg, Infante) and for that matter been to Seattle (Devine and Starr), so I have seen the highest highs (4 Super Bowl titles), the lowest lows (watching the Lombardi players either getting old or being traded away, the last two years of Dan Devine and the first six years of Bart Starr) and the blah years (the last three Starr years and the first two Forrest Gregg years) with many other under .500 seasons in between.

 

Butt and Tattoo Edition

I hated playing the Bears and the Packers won (thank god for Jay Cutler). I hated playing the Seahawks and the Packers won (thank god Dom Capers). I hated playing Monday Night Football and maybe for a little bit the Chiefs because of the fact the Chiefs had never lost at Lambeau Field, but the Packers won (thank god for the Packers Alumni). Next up is the last demon from the first four games and I really hate on this one.
