FROM THE SUBLIME TO THE RIDICULOUS, PART NAU

PRETTY SUBLIME

Lombardi's Den
Today marks a milestone post 100. This blog began on January 11 of this year, so it took 10 months to the day to share 100 of my thoughts. I hope they were all worth reading.

MORE SAD THAN RIDICULOUS

Rob Davis - The Front Office Hit Man
I am a proud Packer Backer. I feel the Green Bay Packers are THE class organization in all of sports. So when a story comes to light that reflects bad on the organization or a fan or fans acts like Bears for 49ers fans it makes me cringe and hoping against hope the opposition didn't notice it.

However a recent story has come down the pike about the Packers front office and it not only made me cringe, but sad. As you guys know I am not a fan of General Manager Ted Thompson and his cautious way of doing business. I think a great General Manager makes one or two risky moves at the right time to put the right pieces in place for a Super Bowl Championship.

I thought getting Randy Moss in 2007 would have insured a Super Bowl is just one example most people don't like, but I don't care what they think. I am a lot like Thompson in that manner. He doesn't care what the fans think about anything, especially personnel moves.

That being said Thompson also sets the tone for the front office and it seems Thompson's front office is just like all the rest. Business is business. People are treated like commodities (i.e. Brett Favre). The ends justifies the means. And the Packers are to be protected at all costs.

It seems Packers Director of Player Development Rob Davis, the former long-time long snapper (1997-2007), tried to intimidate a Milwaukee Journal writer after he wrote a story about domestic abuse in the past of nose tackle Letroy Guion.

This sounds like big city big time hard ball. I expect more from a team that is supposed to have small-town values. I expect the Packers to embrace the truth and not try to punish the media for uncovering the truth. Evidently it's the Packer front office Jack Nicholson was yelling at, "YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!!"

ANOTHER SADLY RIDICULOUS ITEM

Hit Me With Your Best Shot
The NFL is going to have to figure out how to handle past domestic abuse. Current abuse is easy. Ban them for a year. However that won't happen, because of the collective bargaining agreement, but I think if that punishment is allowed to be dished out most players will think twice about hitting their girlfriends or wives. Most I said. Players like Greg Hardy are thugs whose self worth is built around being the alpha male and no female better diss them. He is the worst of the worst and the way the Cowboys, especially owner Jerry Jones, has handled him will only lead to some other poor woman - and there is a line around Dallas waiting for the privilege - will be killed or seriously hurt. Her death or loss of an eye is totally on Jerry Jones' shoulders. Head Coach Jason Garrett is just a lackey with no backbone and he proved it when he dismissed Hardy abusing his special teams coach.

Love Hurts

BONUS GREAT ITEM

Sorry I got off on a Greg Hardy tangent. I really don't like the man. Speaking of people I don't like. One other thing that did happen was the benching of Colin Kaepernick. The clueless former Packer killer can't understand why he's not starting and the explanation given was he needed time to step back and get his head on straight. With that being said Kaepernick won't do much observing and will just be waiting to return to the lineup in a couple weeks at the most when Blaine Gabbert doesn't help the situation. Being benched for the like of Gabbert is one of the most ridiculous things that could happen to an egotist. It couldn't have happened to a better asshole.
