Mission Accomplished

Dunt, Dunt, Dunt, another one bites the dust
The Packer offense had more trouble than anyone figured, but the Packer defense had a better day, but I think it had more to do with how bad Colin Kaepernick played or was allowed to play. But in the end the Packers exorcised their last demon with the defeat of Kaepernick and are now 4-0 with a two-game lead over the Vikings and three games over the Bears.

Offensively, Don Barclay had a bad game at right tackle giving up two sacks and the normally solid middle of the line had trouble with holding. Josh Sitton was caught twice and T. J. Lang once.

Aaron Rodgers had a difficult game finishing with a 99.0 passer rating - his first under 100 this season. He threw just one touchdown and, to no one's surprise, no interceptions. He was sacked three times and was pressured throughout the game.

Making something out of nothing the Rodgers way
The 49er defense did a great job covering the receivers, especially Randall Cobb and Richard Rodgers. James Jones continues to be a godsend with one spectacular catch done the sideline as he continues to make everyone forget Jordy Nelson has been lost for the season.

Here's what Rodgers said about his afternoon, "There weren't a lot of holes to check down, so I'm forced to extend the play and make something up."

Speaking Rodgers he and Tom Brady are the only starting quarterbacks, along with Michael Vick and Matt Hasselbeck (who have one start because of injury), who still haven't thrown an interception.

Eddie Lacy ended up with 90 yards rushing and, to tell the truth, it didn't seem he as having that good of a game as it was happening. That's how good he is. He was one hell of draft choice as was Cobb, so kudos to Ted Thompson.

Defensively the Dom Capers had his best game of the season giving up just three points, but it wasn't all Capers and Company. Kaepernick is a mess and he was as much as fault to the lack of production as was the Packer defense.

Kaepernick made his name with two games against the Packers at the end of the 2012 season and the opening of the 2013. But looking at his play the week before against the Cardinals and today against the Packers he is a mere shadow of his former self.

You only had to look in his eyes as he stepped up to the line of scrimmage to see he had no confidence. Only once when he had completed a 40-yard pass in the second quarter did he show some confidence. He followed that with a 17-yard run, but a holding penalty stalled that drive and back-to-back sacks by Nick Perry and Jayrone Elliott from the five resulted in a field goal instead of the touchdown.

The game began as a typical Kaepernick performance with him gaining 12 yards on a read-option, which even 50 cent (my nickname for Joe Buck, since he is only half the man his father was, so I call him half a buck or...) and Troy Aikman (and these guys aren't that bright in the observation department) wondered why Capers couldn't defense the read-option.

Later in the game Kaepernick couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, which led to the success of the Packers defense. He also held onto the ball too long, when he normally would have taken off running. Kaepernick isn't too bright, so making him think too much is a recipe for disaster.

It was obvious that Kaepernick is in his comfort zone when he free to roam on the read-option. He is a lot like Robert Griffin III. When a team makes the investment in a player like them the prudent thing would be to tailor your offense to their skill set and not try to put a round peg in the square hole.

Mike Shanahan did the right thing as did Jim Harbaugh at the start of their careers. Shanahan's mistake was playing RG3 when he was already hurt and causing a more serious knee injury. Once RG3 got back on the field the powers that be thought his problem was being hit and tried to turn him into a pocket passer, which he isn't . He is now an inactive third string quarterback.

Kapernick is in the same boat. They changed what made Kaepernick good and he is about to be benched for Blaine Gabbert, of all people, which only shows how messed up he is. Gabbert for those who don't know was a first round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who was cut loose after three seasons and has a career passing rating of 68.3.

All I can say is it couldn't have happened to a better person. When Kaepernick was on top he was insufferable. Now Kaepernick is so broken that even the Packer defense couldn't revive him. I hope he continues his slide and is actually benched for a bust. Some humility would do him good. Second string quarterbacks don't get invited to awards ceremonies where he can ogle a supermodel's tatas and not get slapped.

Go Pack Go
The game started with a bunch of red seat masquerading as fans and late in the game as the Packers were starting their last drive it startled everyone, including 50 cent and Aiiiikman when all you could hear was, "Go Pack Go". I'm guessing the Packer Backers will be banned from San Francisco as they were in Tampa Bay years ago.

Back to the Packers defense. For the second week in a row the Packers showed some improvement, especially in the pass rush department. Officially the Packers finished with six, which makes 13 in the past two games and it should have seven, but Clay Matthews somehow allowed Kaepernick to slip out of his grasp on his first attempt.

After four weeks the Packers are tied with Arizona for second place with 17 sacks one behind Denver. One player who has shown some flashes of what made his a first round draft pick is Datone Jones. When he is healthy this year he has rushed the passer and been solid in the middle stopping the run.

Now for the Rest of the Story

The new "Pouring of the Beer" routine was unveiled today and it was an unqualified success. Like I said before the actually "Pouring" was a normal beer that Andrew and Avery brought. Mann's Bootleg Brew wasn't needed until fourth quarter and two plays later Sam Shields intercepted Kaepernick.

The Pouring of the Beer still has its magic
The "Pouring" still has its magic and it seems it still is defensive. It used to be offensive, but since the Super Bowl it has been defensive.

For only the second time this season the Packer Backers got together and Timmer out-did himself. He served pulled pork loin BBQ sandwiches along with homemade slaw, two types of potato chips and some Wisconsin sausage and cheese. Therese was there for the first time and a new addition, Olivia, was invited to join the viewing. The Packers won, so the lovely Olivia can come back as if I have a vote, which I don't, but I still give my official, "Oky, Doky".
