The play of designated quarterback tradee Brett Hundley has
demonstrated three things. 1st, Ted Thompson doesn’t know a quarterback from
his ass and for that matter a hole in the ground. 2nd. Mike McCarthy can’t
teach a bad quarterback new tricks, but he can ride a great quarterback to the
Super Bowl and developing a reputation as one of the great quarterback
whisiperers and play callers the game has ever known. SAD.
3rd, when Rodgers went down Ted Thompson didn’t go out and
get a veteran quarterback (Brian Hoyer), but compounded the misjudgments of
himself and the incompetence of McCarthy and the result has been a 4 losses in
5 games (thank god for da Bears) that has virtually ended the one thing
President and CEO Mark Murphy and Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football
Operations Ted Thompson cares about in the whole world the consecutive playoff
appearance streak that had reached eight, which tied it for the longest current
streak in the NFL along with the Patriots, who are going to make it nine and,
just to rub it in, signed Hoyer.
The total
embarrassment that was the game last Sunday against the vastly overrated
Baltimore Ravens before a totally embarrassed and dissatisfied Packer faithful
at Lambeau Field should have shook up the McCarthy and his coaching staff (we
don’t expect Murphy or Thompson to change course. They are in too deep) to find
a solution to save the season until Aaron Rodgers comes back. But for some odd
reason McCarthy is staying with Hundley comes Hell or high water.
The only
reason I can think of is McCarthy feels Joe Callahan is not an NFL caliber
quarterback even though he has outplayed Hundley even preseason. It surely can’t
be McCarthy’s ego thinking if he makes a change it just shows he’s not a
quarterback guru. It can’t be that. So if it is Callahan is no good then why is
he there? The incompetence of Thompson providing a playoff caliber roster is
staggering.
I only
hope the Board of Directors is watching. If Murphy and Thompson aren’t fired at
the end of the season then maybe it’s time for a Packer Backer Revolt and
boycott to demand a change in the front office because the “Just Good Enough”
Packers of the Murphy/Thompson Era were only “smoke and Rodgers” and are really
the “Aren’t Good Enough” Packers I’ve been warning about for many years.
