Where Are They Now - After The Cuts

Since my last Where Are They Now when there were 45 ex-Packers on 22 teams a lot has happened. First I missed middle linebacker Jamari Lattimore with the Jets, so there actually 46 on 22 team and then during the next day another four ex-Packers were signed tight end D. J. Williams by the Redskins, middle linebacker Terrell Manning by the Falcons, defensive end Luther Robinson by the Chargers and tight end Ryan Taylor by the Chiefs upping the grand total to 50 just before the final cuts on Tuesday and Saturday.

Almost immediately Williams, Manning, Robinson and Taylor were cut and then Cowboy running back Michael Hill, Seahawk cornerback Will Blackmon, 49ers inside linebacker Desmond Bishop, Panthers wide receiver Jarrett Boykin, running back DuJuan Harris from the Vikings, kick returner Jeremy Ross and defensive end Jerel Worthy from the Lions, quarterback Matt Flynn from the Jets, place kicker Giorgio Tavecchio and defensive end C. J. Wilson from the Raiders and tackle Aaron Adams from the Texans were put on waivers along with the NFC Championship Game Goat tight end Brandon Bostick by the Vikings and former No. 1 draft choice tackle Derek Sherrod by the Chiefs. By Saturday at 3 p.m. 17 ex-Packers were unemployed.
Tramon Williams
Outside linebacker Dezman Moses survived the cut to 53 with the Chiefs, but was cut almost immediately after tight end Brian Parker was claimed off waivers from the Chargers on Sunday. Then Wednesday he was re-signed when guard Paul Fanaika was placed on injured reserve.

Two others didn't stay unemployed very long when the Cardinals signed Bostick - who evidently has nine lives with seven left - to the practice squad and the Ravens signed Ross to its practice squad.

Then four of the Packers cuts also found a new team. Defensive tackle Khyri Thornton was signed by the Patriots and tight end Mitchell Henry by the Broncos with two more signed to the practice squad - running back Rajion Neal by the Dolphins and tight end Harold Spears by the Steelers until Spears was released on Sunday when tight end Xavier Grimble was picked up after being cut by the 49ers.
Marshall Newhouse
So by the Thursday morning there are 36 ex-Packers were still in the league either on the active roster, the practice squad or on injured reserve.

Going into the opening game of the season there are 13 ex-Packers who are starting: On the offensive line are RT Marshall Newhouse (Giants), RT Breno Giacomini (Jets), LG Allen Barbre (Eagles) and C Evan Smith (Bucs). At wide receiver are Greg Jennings (Dolphins) and Charles Johnson (Vikings). On the defensive line is LDE Cullen Jenkins (Giants). At outside linebacker are Danny Lansanah (Bucs), A. J. Hawk (Bengals) and Erik Walden (Colts). In the secondary are RCB Tramon Williams (Browns), LCB Davon House (Jaguars) and SS Charles Woodson (Raiders).
Future Hall of Famer #24 Charles Woodson with another #24 Hall of Famer Willie Brown
There are four special teamers: long snappers Clark Harris (Bengals), J. J. Jansen (Panthers) and Thomas Gafford (Bears) and punter Jon Ryan (Seahawks).

There are seven second stringers: QB Matt Hasselbeck (Colts), LT/RT Jamon Meredith (Titans), C Patrick Lewis (Seahawks), RDE Lawrence Guy (Ravens), LILB Jamari Lattimore (Jets), LOLB Frank Zombo (Chiefs) and FS Anthony Levine, Sr. (Ravens).

There are six third stringers: TE Henry (Broncos), LDT Thornton (Patriots), LDT Colin Cole (Panthers), OLB Moses (Chiefs), LILB Brad Jones (Eagles), and RCB Jamal Rolle (Texans).

The three practice squad members are RB Neal (Dolphins), TE Bostick (Cardinals) and TE Jake Stoneburner (Dolphins). The three on injured reserve are CB Josh Gordy (Giants), DE Jarius Wynn (Bills) and FS Brandian Ross (Raiders).

Last year there were 33 ex-Packers still in the league with 16 starting and four special teams starters (the three long snappers and Ross as the Lions main kick returner). There were eight on the second string, one on the third string and one fourth or lower with three on injured reserve.

Of those starters Ross was cut and is now on the Raven's practice squad, center Scott Wells (Rams) and guard Daryn Colledge (Dolphins) have retired, Newhouse went from a starter with the Bengals to a starter with the Giants, Jennings from a starter with the Vikings to a starter with the Dolphins and Gafford went from the Chiefs to the Bears.

LCB Anthony Levine, Sr. (Ravens) and James Jones (Raiders) are now on the second team with the Ravens and Packers, respectively. SS Brandian Ross (Raiders) is on injured reserve and LDE C. J. Wilson (Raiders) has been cut.
