FROM THE SUBLIME TO THE RIDICULOUS, PART HAT

(really, hat is six in Hungarian. I try to be topical. I guess that would qualify as being ridiculous)
MUCHO SUBLIME-O

It's going to be 72 degrees and partly cloudy with an 8 mph SSW wind and 63 percent humidity Sunday night for the game against the Seahawks.

THE SUBLIME

It was sublime that the first batch of Mann's Bootleg Brew was a success in the fact it was 1. liquid; 2. it hissed with it was opened and formed a head; 3. didn't taste horrible; 4. the first three bottles didn't have any sediment in the bottom. All of that took a load off my mind.

However, the taste wasn't so sublime. It has a flavor which none of us could pin down. I'm not sure I love it, but I don't hate it. It got a weak thumbs up from Andrew and Avery on flavor and I gave it a weak thumbs up, too. In fact, there was a Bears fan and his son watching the games with us and he thought it was cider (if a Chicago guy couldn't tell it was beer then...I will tell what his opinion has made me do two paragraphs down).

But more importantly like I mentioned in Quick Takes it passed the "Pouring of the Beer" test when it counted (PRETTY SUBLIME).

Because of the mixed results during the "Pouring" I've also decided I will be taking only one bottle the next time I watch the game with the Packer Backers, which in fact will be in three weeks, for the second "Pouring of the Beer" if it's needed. I will have one of Andrew's and Avery's beers for the official first "Pouring" to see if that makes a difference since Bootleg didn't do much on the first "Pouring".

In related drinking news, Mann's Bootleg Brew seems might be 7 to 7.5% alcohol instead of the normal 5.6%, so between the higher alcohol content and it being a 750ml bottle, Bootleg delivers quite a kick.

Finally, with the Chicago guy's lack of recognizing it was beer I will try a different flavor when I make the second batch when the final eight bottles have been consumed.

SUBLIMELY TASTY

Timmer cooked perfect Packer cuisine for a Bears game - bratwurst, one of his many specialties. As always because Timmer is the best outdoor chef I know they were perfect He also made creamy cole slaw and it was great too.

SUBLIME SUNDAY SUM UP

The preparation for the "Pouring" was off as were our high fives when the Packers score or make a good defensive play. Actually they were piss poor at best. Since this was the first game the Packer Backers (without Therese because she was poker running) were together this season it seems we, like the actual players, needed some pre-season games to get our act together. Take that Olivia Munn's boyfriend.

Hopefully we'll be better in three weeks, since we won't be watching SundayNight Football (Seahawks) and Monday Night Football (Chiefs) together because Timmer and Therese don't do night entertaining. Or is it they are entertaining themselves during the night games? Either way we don't get together (because they are getting together in tight quarters - it seems I can't get the vision out of my mind) for night games.

THE RIDICULOUS

Tom Brady, the unapologetic man-child, and the New England Patriots beat Commissioner Mark Goodell and the NFL, for that matter, and the repercussions are already being felt and it will only get worse

The first was Greg Hardy deciding to appeal his 4-game suspension through the courts, but for some reason I haven't heard about, he decided to not do that. Win one for Goodell because he would have lost that one, too, no doubt.

The second happened in the Thursday night season-opener with the Pittsburgh Steelers at the (isn't it ironic, don't you think) New England Patriots. To no one's surprise there were some shenanigans with the Steelers' head sets. What happened was the headsets were playing the Patriots radio broadcast instead of being a clear channel to the quarterback and defensive play caller.

In an example closer to home when the Packers played the Patriots at Foxboro in the first pre-season game this season the phones went out when Brett Hundley was playing in the second half. Coincidence, I think not.

To no one's surprise (I said it again because it bears repeating) the NFL investigated the Steelers' incident (not the Packers) and immediately within hours decided it was an electrical problem and not Belichick doing that voodoo he does so well even though the investigators were told that headsets would stop playing the radio play-by-play when someone from the NFL would come to the sidelines and it would got back to piping the game again once he left the sidelines. Sounds like a smoking gun to me.

However, Goodell doesn't want anything to do with the Patriots, so the real winner in this mess is Belichick. He now has a license to cheat every minute of every day until he retires. Sad day for the NFL to have a rogue coach with a Get Out of Jail Free Card.

A few days ago ESPN aired a report about Belichick and his cheatin' heart. In 2007 it was Spygate (illegally videotaping opposing coaches' defensive signals in over 40 games from 2000 to 2007) just 18 months after Goodell was hired as commissioner. Even back when Belichick was the head coach of the Browns (1991-1995) the man who organized the taping - Ernie Adams - did the same thing having a Browns employee wear a NFL Films shirt and tape the opposing team's sideline huddles and grease boards from behind the bench.

In addition to taping signals, etc the cheating went ever farther according to Outside the Lines.

"In fact, many former New England coaches and employees insist that the taping of signals wasn't even the most effective cheating method the Patriots deployed in that era. Several of them acknowledge that during pregame warm-ups, a low-level Patriots employee would sneak into the visiting locker room and steal the play sheet, listing the first 20 or so scripted calls for the opposing team's offense. Numerous former employees say the Patriots would have someone rummage through the visiting team hotel for playbooks or scouting reports."

"A former member of the NFL competition committee says the committee spent much of 2001-06 "discussing ways in which the Patriots cheated," even if nothing could be proved." Former and current executives, coaches and players of various teams indicated that it was well-known the cheatin' ways of Belichick and that they would even go so far as to plant fake play sheets for the Patriots to find to see if they turn his pickadillos against him for their advantage.

It seems Bill Belichick is the modern version of former President Richard Nixon. The original "gate" was back in June of 1972 when Nixon had no reason to think Eugene McCarthy was going to beat him for re-election. but he was paranoid enough to make sure. Belichick is the same. During the early 2000's the Patriots were arguably the best team in the league and yet he felt he had to tape the lowly Jets and other teams that would have no chance to beat his Patriots.

Bill 'Martini' Belichick

I think Bill Belichick is mentally ill and is a danger to himself and others. Don't take my word just observe his actions, like press conferences where he feels anything he says of substance could be used against him, so he just says nothing or repeat some nonsense phrase over and over again to every question. I can see him now sitting at home in his dirty pullover and underpants with aluminum foil over his windows and the top of his head to prevent other teams from trying to steal his communications (as if he as any).

It could be another mentally ill person, Marshawn Lynch, is Belichick's illegitimate son. They think alike, walk alike and even talk alike. I think they even have a family resemblance. Who knows for sure? Asking Belichick or Lynch, for that matter, would get you nowhere. In fact, you would probably know less after talking to either of them than you did before because being in the same room with insane people like them could short out your brain cells.

On a side rant, Goodell should have slapped down Lynch and Belichick a long time ago for their post-game interviews, or more appropriately, non-interviews. Just showing up and saying over and over again that is why Lynch was there as an answer to any question is not fulfilling the rule of cooperating with the media. Belichick does that, too - except he would say we are preparing for (put in a team name here) as the answer to every question he was asked. Rant over.

Just when I decide to pull out they pull me back in. I'm not fighting that, too much.

CONTINUED RIDICULOUSNESS

The NFL has reinstated "The Deflator" and his flunky because they have given up like I've said above. That's ridiculous enough, but a new article came out stating a former NFL ref (Mark Baltz) saying he notified the NFL Powers That Be (when the NFL had power) six or eight years ago about the "The Deflator".

Here's what he said about "The Deflator": "I always thought he was an unusual dude. Most locker room guys, they sit there and if you need something, they got it for you. When you left the locker room, you’d lock the door and they’d stay right there. The other 31 teams, that’s what they would do. That was his job.

But McNally, he was running all around like a chicken with his head cut off. Asking for the balls early. What I specifically reported him for several years ago, and I thought this was really unusual, he’d run out on the field with the footballs before the game and the next thing you know, he’s playing pitch-and-catch with [Tom] Brady. Then, next thing, he’s on the sidelines right next to [Bill] Belichick, like he’s a [bleeping] assistant coach or something."

If you believe Brady never met the Deflator I've got a bridge to sell you

I thought All-American Liar (Brady) and Martini (Belichick) said they hardly knew him. So, if I take what they as truth (and who would do that from documented liars) then they hang around and play with anybody off the street. Hey Brady Backers, you, too, can play toss with your hero if you just show up with a deflated ball. No charge. Just don't expect him to remember you were near him or who you were or he even did anything before a game.

RIDICULOSITY

Adam "Pacman" Jones has some issues and one is anger and the other is causing riots at strip clubs "Make it Rain, Baby". Sunday another Pacman incident happened, but this time it was on the field of battle instead of on a stripper. Watch this video and tell me why the recently castrated NFL front office didn't suspend his ass for, at the very least, assault with a deadly weapon.

It seems in the post-Deflategate NFL a player can't get suspended for on-field extra curricular violence, so, of course, he only got a fine. I supposed you have to kick the other player's dog to get suspended any more, but remember if you pound his girlfriend's head into the turf that's ok with the Falcons.

MUCHO RIDICULO

The above made me to flashback to Brady and Belichick and suddenly I feel my brain slipping away, so I'm going to sign off before.....................................
fade to black..............
