The continuing saga of Aaron Rodgers’ love life made another famous turn when Mr. Rodgers finally replaced his former actress Tiger Lady Olivia Munn on a permanent (we’ll see) basis for the most high profile female in sports former race car driver Danica Patrick.

The back story for the budding (although Ms. Patrick is a bit long in the tooth (36-years-old) to have the word budding connected with her) romance is interesting. They met in 2012 at the ESPY awards and have sort of stayed in touch while Rodgers and Munn were having their love affair and Ms. Patrick was dating fellow driver Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. for 5 years.

Jumping to last year. Rodgers dumped Munn in April for many reasons, but the most I guess was she is very high maintenance, and Patrick split with Stenhouse in December. In between Rodgers was seen dating 27-year-old SI Swimsuit model Kelly Rohrbach, 33-year-old Lindsey Vonn (another high profile female athlete) and 24-year-old soccer player named Marie Margolius. Busy guy. We all should be so busy.

Ms. Patrick told us all how they got together, “We’ve just been sort of friends the whole time, kept in vague touch and seen each other at the ESPYs almost every year, and other places. So one thing led to another, and we realized how similar we were, and yeah, that got the ball rolling.”

Besides that explanation the moment of truth came when they both went on a trip to Zambia (or is it actually Nambia like TRUMP thinks it is when he praised Zambia at the UN) to fit people with hearing aids and then on to

India

where they met the Dalai Lama.

Patrick said, “We just went on a trip around the world, literally. We met the Dalai Lama, and we did a mission trip for giving hearing aids to people in Africa. And there were some seriously funny people on this trip. There’s one guy that I look at and his face makes me laugh. So for a week straight, I just laughed. Last week, I just laughed. I think I have a six-pack from it.”

In a TV interview Patrick said there were 7 things she liked about Mr. Rodgers, “He’s funny, he’s very kind, he’s thoughtful, he’s super smart and he’s really good at football. And he’s tall and he’s big, and I like that.”

Well, we know Mr. Rodgers is a joker and he seems to be not dumb and he is very good at football and he’s tall. About being “big” I guess only Olivia, Kelly, Lindsey, Marie and all his high school and college girlfriends will have to chime in on that.

Ms. Patrick was born in Beloit, Wisconsin and since she was born in 1982 she grew up when the Packers sucked and was 10 when the Packers came out of the Wilderness Years.

However, she actually grew up in Roscoe, Illinois and went to high school in Rockton (well sort off, she dropped out of high school her junior year to begin her racing career), so she grew up a Chicago Bears fan. Except for me, I guess, you are a fan of the team closest to you. I am born and bred in Southern Illinois, never lived in Green Bay or Wisconsin, but have been a Packer Backer since 1965 (when I started to follow sports) and always will be a Packer Backer (just for the record I have never been a St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts or St. Louis Rams fan).

Patrick, who seems to be a strong willed modern woman with very strong ideals, became just another giggly girl when announced in an AP report, "she “always” cheered for Rodgers. But “Now I’m going to cheer for the whole team.” So much for strongly held beliefs.

I would think adopting the likes of your paramour is a slap in the face of what women want to be or say they want to be. I would think switching allegiances so easily would be stabbing her feminist sisters in the back, considering Ms. Patrick is one of leaders of the feminist movement (whether she thinks of herself in that manner or not) as a member of a sport that had very few females participating in it when she first hit the scene professionally in 2005.

Up until that time the only females you would find at a professional race track were bouncing around in skimpy clothing as eye candy with their “man” or handing out the trophy in skimpy outfits. Despite Ms. Patrick blazing the trail those scenes can still be found at any professional or local race track. I know because I cover races at a local track.

As far as being a symbol of feminism Ms. Patrick fell into the trap of being a female in the man's world. Many years ago she posed for Maxim, which undercut her attempt to be taken seriously in the sports world. There are many fine female athletes who do the same thing year in and year out. Until they stop posing like bimbos they will still be thought of as nothing more than a pretty face and body.
