One Last Thought

I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but Ty Montgomery has not been given a running back number. It was said that in order for him to play running back this season he had be given a number in the 20’s, 30’s or 40’s. However, he still has #88 and I wonder what that means.

I think the decision was made that Montgomery was not going to be the starting running back (despite all the FAKE NEWS from Ted Thompson’s office) before the draft when Thompson drafted 3 running backs (Jamaal Williams, Aaron Jones, and Devante Mays) and then didn’t change Montgomery’s number.

I think Jones has shown enough to be considered the starter and Williams is well liked although he has not played as well as Jones. People also like Mays.

I feel Montgomery will be listed as wide receiver so he can keep his number and might see time in the backfield as a change of pace. So give him cudos for filling in when Eddie Lacy and James Starks went down. He deserves a lot of credit for that.

Speaking of Lacy and Starks. Lacy is listed as the starting running back for the Seahawks. He carried the ball 14 times for 51 yards (3.6 average) with no TDs and caught 1 pass for 3 yards and no TDs. Starks career is over, at least for the moment.
