Staty Stuff

The Green Bay Packers (2-1) will host the New York Giants (2-2) at "The Shrine" LAMbeau Field on Sunday Night Football with the most insufferable color man in the business in the broadcast booth Chris "The Best in All of Football" Collinsworth.

Aaron Rodgers Needs To Be Back
Aaron Rodgers verses Eli "Packers Killer" Manning is the big matchup with the Odell Beckham, Jr. and his fragile psyche against the banged up Packers secondary the under-card.

Manning and has won the last three meetings starting with the playoff game in 2012 at Lambeau Field, 37-20, which was the last time the Giants won the Super Bowl.

Since 2008 when Rodgers became the starter Manning lost at Lambeau, 45-17, in 2010 and at home ,38-35, in 2011 before winning the playoff game that season. The last two regular season games Manning has won 38-10 at home in 2012 and 27-13 at home in 2013.

Manning Needs To Be Grounded
Overall Manning is 5-3 against the Packers. He is 2-1 against Favre and 3-2 against Rodgers. He is 1-1 against the Packers at LAMbeau Field during the regular season and 2-0 in the playoffs. The only loss at "The Shrine" came in 2010 to the tune of 45-17.

Coming into the game Rodgers is ranked 12th (98.6) having completed 55 of 94 passes (58.5%) for 617 yards with 7 TD passes and 1 interception. Manning is ranked 18th (87.8) having completed 101 of 152 passes (66.5%) for 1,186 yards with 4 TDs and 4 interceptions.

Jordy Is Back
Jordy Nelson is the Packers top receiver tied for 50th with 17 catches for 206 yards (12.1 ave.) with 4 TD catches. OBJ is the Giants leading receiver tied for 18th with 22 catches for 303 yards (13.8) and 0 TD catches.

Sterling Shepard is second with 20 catches for 263 yards (13.2) with 2 TDs. Victor Cruz is third with 16 catches for 245 (15.3) and 1 TD. Randall Cobb is second for the Packers with 12 catches for 132 yards (11.0) with 0 TDs. Davante Adams has 8 catches for 99 yards (12.4) with 2 TDs. Jared Abbrederis has 1 catch for 8 yards.

Richie Rodgers Can Reclaim His Spot With A Good Game
At tight end Will Tye leads the Giants with 12 catches for 83 yards (6.9) with 0 TDs. Larry Donnell has 8 catches for 50 yards (6.3) with 1 TD. Jacob Cook leads the Packers with 6 catches for 53 yards (8.8) with 0 TDs. Richie Rodgers has 5 catches for 56 yards (11.2) and 1 TD. Cook will not play. Justin Perillo has 1 catch for 13 yards.

Eddie Lacy is ranked 22nd in rushing with 214 yards on 43 carries for an average of 5.0 per carry with 0 TDs. The leader is David Johnson of the Cardinals with 457 yards on 91 carries (one extra game). Shane Vereen leads the Giants with 147 yards on 31 carries (4.7) and 1 TD. Vereen will not play having suffering a torn triceps last week against the Redskins.

Orleans Darkwa Out of the Vikings Pan And Into the Packers Fire
The Giants second leading rusher Rashad Jennings (102 yards on 31 carries) is out with a thumb injury, so the Giants will run by "committee" with Orleans Darkwa the next man up (100 yards on 23 carries with 2 TDs).

James Starks has 9 yards on 12 carries with a long carry of 5 yards. NOTE: The Packers have only two running backs on the roster with Aaron Ripkowski at fullback (0 rushes). Rodgers has 12 rushes for 67 yards with 2 TDs and wide receiver Ty Montgomery has 1 rush for -1 yard.

Offensively the Packers are ranked 29th with 293.7 yards a game while the Giants are 6th with 382.2. Passing wise the Packers are 29th (193.2) and the Giants 4th (288.5). Rushing the Packers 16th (100.3) and the Giants 19th (93.8).

Jake Ryan Leading Tackler
Defensively, the Packers are ranked 13th (350.0) and the Giants 11th (346.2). The Packers lead the league in rushing defense (42.7) and the Giants are 9th (84.0). Passing the Packers are 29th (307.3) and the Giants are 18th (262.2).

Let's look a little closer at the defensive rankings. The opposing team has rushed 71 times for 128 yards at 1.8 a carry, but has passed the ball 111 times for an average of 307.3 per game (8.31 per throw/12.5 per catch) while completing 66.7% on 74 completions.

The Packers have given up 57 first downs. On third down the Packers are allowing 37.2% to be converted and have allowed 5 of 7 on fourth down. In time of possession the defense has allowed 32.16 seconds compared to 27.44 for the offense.

Nick Perry Is Suddenly THE MAN
The Packers are tied for 10th with 10 sacks. Nick Perry leads the team with 3.5 followed by Clay Matthews (2), Julius Peppers (1.5), Morgan Burnett (1), Kyler Fackrell (1) and Mike Daniels (1).

No. 1 draft pick Damarious Randall and undrafted free agent Joe Thomas have 1 interception each. Randall has been burned repeatedly over the first 3 games for long completions and he needs to step up today if he plays. The funny thing is opposing quarterbacks have picked on him and almost totally ignored undrafted free agent LaDarius Gunter, who is starting in place of the injured Sam Shields.

Josh Hawkins The Next Man Up
If Randall can't play then another undrafted free agent Josh Hawkins is the next man up. No. 2 draft pick Quinten Rollins has remained in the slot instead of moving outside with the injures to Shields and Randall.

Inside linebackers Jake Ryan (22 tackles - 15 solo) and Blake Martinez (18 tackles - 14 solo) are the leading tacklers.

Randall and free safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix lead the secondary in tackles with 13 each. Randall as 13 solo tackles and Clinton-Dix 11 solo.

Here's a little quirk or maybe its just an outright lie about the depth chart. Rookie Dean Lowry is listed as a starter at left defensive end, but in the games I've seen Defensive Coordinator Dom Capers opens with two down linemen (normally Daniels and Letroy Guion) with four linebackers and five defensive backs.

The official NFL stats back me up showing he has played in 3 games with no starts while Rollins has 3 starts in the slot. Take that discrepancy for what it's worth. I prefer to chalk it up as another Bill Belichick type lie from the desk of Ted Thompson.
