The Packers Are SOOO Predictable

Before I face the wrath of the "Trust in Tedders" and "Ask Vic" I will state winning is a whole lot better than losing, so I am happy with the 34-27 win over the Lions keeping the Packers (2-1) in second place in the North behind the "Break Up The Vikings" (3-0) and ahead of the Lions (1-2) and the No Luck Bears (0-3).

Now I ask "Ask Vic" and the "Tedders" to tune out because I have something serious to say and those two are so far up Ted Thompson's ass they haven't seen daylight for eons or 11 years.

The Packers offense finally looked like the 2009-2014 offense of old in the first half and in the second half as well for that matter. As I have stated before many times there was a reason Coach Mike McCarthy gave up the play calling and Sunday that reason was on display. McCarthy takes the foot off the pedal and goes into a shell after halftime every time the Packers have a big halftime lead.

In the first half the Packers scored 31 points and wracked up 211 total yards with Aaron Rodgers completing 12-of-18 passes for 174 yards with 4 touchdown passes and no interceptions and a quarterback rating of 137.5. Jordy Nelson was thrown to 7 times catching 6 for 101 yards and 2 TDs. Eddie Lacy ran the ball 6 times for 42 yards because the passing game finally woke up.

Dom Capers' defense prior to the final Lions drive in the first half (2 plays, 2 passes for 75 yards and a 73 TD pass) had held the Lions to 3 points, 136 total yards, 16 yards rushing and 120 yards passing on 10-of-19 passes with one interception.

The Lions had five possessions resulting in a 15 play-75 yard drive for a field goal; 3 and out for a punt; 5 plays-49 yards and an interception and 12 plays-50 yards and a missed field goal before that final drive, if that's what you call 2 plays at the end of the second quarter.

Now for the second half not just the fourth quarter, but the entire second half. The opposing defense makes adjustments, but for the most part they don't have to because Mike McCarthy goes into his shell and shuts down the offense for them. With a record 7 TD passes on the horizon Rodgers only throws 6 passes completing 3 for 31 yards without targeting Jordy once for a per pass average of  4.43 yards compared to 9.67 in the first half. The Packers rushed the ball 17 times for 82 yards for a 4.8 average compared to 5.9 (Lacy had 11 rushes for 61 yards and 5.5 yards a carry compared to 7.0) for a grand total of 113 yards (4.9 average compared to 8.1) and just 3 points compared to 31.

On the flip side Dom Capers never makes adjustments while the opposing offense always does. This time Matthew Stafford completed 16-of-20 passes (many in the middle of the field again and again and again) for 190 yards and 2 TDs while the Lions rushed 9 times for 34 yards after halftime.

Starting with the final drive of the first half the Lions went 75 yards-2 plays for a TD; 77 yards-12 plays for a TD; 50 yards-10 plays for a field goal; 3 yards-3 plays and a punt; 62 yards-6 plays for a TD.

What ended up happening I predicted would happen during halftime when one of the Packer Backers was so happy with the 31-10 lead. This is a pattern with McCarthy and Capers. In the past and again on Sunday Rodgers was about to score just enough points for the win. Last year after the bye he didn't.

"Ask Vic" and the "Tedders" will say that strategy worked with the win, but it very easily could have backfired as it has many times.

My Wish Is For Kevin Greene To Be Defensive Coordinator
I would love a game and a season when the Packers would field a dominant defense, but as long as Capers is Defensive Coordinator that will never happen, so I think McCarthy should fire Capers immediately and ask Kevin Greene if he wants to take over as Defensive Coordinator and fire Edgar Bennett as Offensive Coordinator and bring is someone who knows how to coach an offense for an entire game and not just the first half. However, McCarthy has a bromance with Capers, so that won't happen, and he believes the crap the talking heads say that he is one of the best play callers in the history of the game.

Then fire McCarthy, so we can finally get rid of that turd in the pool Capers and his little brother Mikey. However, there doesn't seem to any discontent with McCarthy coming from Ted Thompson. So fire Thompson, so we can rid of Capers and that play caller. However, it seems CEO Mark Murphy is more in love with Thompson than Thompson is with McCarthy and McCarthy is with Capers and himself. Remember Murphy stated recently that he told Ted he could have the job of General Manager as long as he wanted it. So let's fire Murphy, so we can get rid of Capers and that play caller. But it seems there is no discontent with the direction of the Packers coming from the Board of Directors. So let's fire the Board, so we can get rid of Capers and that play caller.

The only way to get the Packers out of their Just Good Enough complacency to be happy with just make the playoffs, but not win the Super Bowl is for the Packers Backers to rise up and demand excellentce before the management continues to waste the final years of Aaron Rodgers like it did the final years of Brett Favre. Let's start a movement NOW before it's too late and Rodgers spends his final years as a Chicago Bear.
