I've Come to a Few Conclusions

Rodgers and the Packers Left Arizona Dazed And Confused
The 2015 Packers are the worst playoff team in the league. The last time the Packers were this bad was 2008 the first year after Brett Favre when they finished 6-10 in Aaron Rodgers' first year as a starter. In fact, before the Cardinals debacle Mike McCarthy was complaining out loud that there was too much negativity concerning the Packers and people ought to realize they have won 10 games. One terrible loss later McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers are singing from the same songbook saying every thing will be all right next week against the Vikings. They need to take the bull by the tail and face the ugly situation.

You might be wondering why I call the Packers the worse playoff team in the league. I think anyone who has watched the Packers play know they are lucky to be in the playoffs and over .500. Since starting the season 6-0 the Packers are 4-5 and really should be 9-6 with luck combined with stupid coaching and playing causing the Hail Mary pass to work.

Aaron Rodgers is having his worse season since he became a starter. He is missing throws he normally makes in his sleep and hasn't made plays when it counts. If Rodgers was on his game the Packers would be 13-2 with a win over the Panthers (ouch), wins over the Lions and the Bears at home instead of losses (ouch and double ouch). I would say the loss to the Broncos was more on the defense than Rodgers even though he didn't have a good day and the loss to the Cardinals was a total collapse of mythic proportions.

Me and the rest of Packer Nation (shit, I hate that phrase, but it fits here) have been waiting for the offense to get back on track, but I finally had to admit it won't this season. Rodgers is as bad as he was 12 weeks ago. Something is wrong and it's not Olivia Munn f*cking him to death or a sore shoulder. I fear something more is wrong and it might never get better. I hate to think its time to find a new quarterback.

Eddie Lacy is a mystery. Something is wrong with him, too. Coach Mike McCarthy thinks it's mental and maybe it is because he was excellent two weeks ago against the Cowboys, hitting holes with speed and determination, and then terrible last week against the Raiders, slow to the hole and dancing around. James Starks hasn't proved he can be the feature back, so there is another hole in the lineup that might need to be filled next year.

The receivers are another mystery. Jordy Nelson will be back, but that only solves one of three problems. Randall Cobb is not getting open. James Jones has hit the wall and will not be back next season I'm guessing. Jeff Janis also won't be back next season if he's lucky because McCarthy hates him.

That leaves Jared Abbrederis as the only possible plus for the remainder of this season and the next. McCarthy likes him saying recently, "(He's a) very instinctive player. He has natural route-running instincts. He has a very in-tune time clock, particularly with Aaron Rodgers. I think his biggest asset."

The tight ends are ok. Richie Rodgers had proven his worth and Justin Perillo seems serviceable. Andrew Quarless being activated may help the next two games. The Packers also like Mitchell Henry, who was cut and re-signed to the practice squad.
The offensive line is another mystery despite the injuries. Bryan Bulaga and David Bakhtiari have been banged up, so I give them a pass. Both Josh Sitton and T.J. Lang have also had health issues, but they have other problems. Both have been beaten too many times and have had to hold to make up for their shortcomings. Center Corey Linsley was stuck in a sophomore slump before being hurt and while J.C. Tretter have proven why he was considered the one to replace Evan Dietrick-Smith (now just Smith) he also has had injuries to deal with.

Rodgers Was Sacked An NFL Season-High 9 Times
The offensive line needs to be addressed and I would started that by drafting La'el Collins in the seventh round this year. He was toxic before the draft because of being a person of interest in a shooting, but the police made sure everyone knew he wasn't a suspect. He said if he was drafted he would not sign since he was a sure 1st rounder, so the Cowboys signed him after the draft and he is now their starting guard. Like I said I would have drafted him and called his bluff. Who wouldn't want to play on the same offense with Aaron Rodgers, Eddie Lacy, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, at least before the season the began.

One more thing about the offensive line. Ted Thompson's penny-pinching ways leaves the line backups short on experience and talent every year. The game against the Cardinals proved the point too exactly. Don Barclay had to play left tackle and he is not a left tackle. Josh Walker had to play right tackle and he was absolutely terrible. Terrible. Tretter had to take over right tackle and wasn't bad, but he is also not a tackle, right or left. Sitton was caught holding again and he was voted to the Pro Bowl. What a travesty.

Tim Masthay is having a terrible season after falling apart the second half of last season. It looks like the Packers may have to find a punter next year and after Brett Goode suffered a knee injury they might have to find another long snapper. An untested and unwanted rookie Rick Lovato is filling in for the rest of the season, at least that is the plan at the moment. This could be a problem for Mason Crosby the next two weeks since he didn't get a chance to kick either a field goal or an extra point against the Cardinals..

There is nothing wrong with the defense a new defensive coordinator wouldn't solve. With the offense struggling and probably continuing to do so for the rest of the season the defense needs to step up and win the games. I don't think that will happen, so I am predicting a loss to the Vikings at Lambeau Field and a loss to the Vikings in the Wild Card round the following week.

Watching the Disaster in the Desert leaves me with only one thought. It's time for a change. Ted Thompson has left this roster unprepared for emergencies. Mike McCarthy doesn't have a clue how to fix whatever is wrong. And Dom Capers....

Eliot Wolf Presenting His Father At The Hall of Fame
So here is my solution. Fire the lot, Thompson, McCarthy, Capers and the whole staff. Elevate Eliot Wolf to General Manager and hire Sean Payton as well as try to persuade Kevin Greene to take over the defense.

Kevin Greene Will Make the Packer Defense Tougher
